In order to grow in your new relationship with God we suggest that you read the Bible regularly, pray to God regularly, find a Bible believing church in your area to worship and then fellowhip with other believers. Perhaps the person who gave you the bookmark or pointed you to this site can help you. If you don't know who that person is, then we invite you to contact us.
Reading the Bible is the first place to start. We like to suggest reading the bookes of John, Acts and Romans. This will give you a solid understanding of the Gospel and the early church. Consider the following as to why the book of John was written:
"Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20:30-31)
But, you may be asking, "how do I read it?" You might be tempted to start with the beginning of the Bible and read it through to the end. This is fine. However, some people tend to get bogged down at times. What we suggest is to read the Bible a little at a time. Reading the Bible is like eating. Jesus says that we don't live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from God. The important thing is to read it each day. You don't skip meals do you? Well then don't skip reading God's word either. Here is a suggestion, start by reading a chapter of the Bible each day. First ready through the book of John, then Acts and then Romans. Once you complete those, then read the E100 challenge a day at a time for 100 days. Then do a reading plan to go through the entire New Testament. Finally, find a reading plan to go through the entire Bible. At some point, switch to a plan to go through the entire Bible in one year. These regular habits will help you grow in knowledge and understanding of God.
Then as you read God's word, don't just read it, but do what it says. God's word is powerful... it will change your life!
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22
